This chapter discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of the Cisco 2500 Series Hardware Installation and Maintenance publication. This document is available on Cisco Connection Documentation CD-ROM or a printed document can be ordered separately.

Document Objectives

This publication will step you through initial site preparation, installation, and troubleshooting. It also covers selected maintenance procedures.


Audience

This publication is designed for the router installer, who should be familiar with electronic circuitry and wiring practices and have experience as an electronic or electromechanical technician.

For a tutorial on initial software configuration, refer to the Router Products Getting Started Guide. For more advanced configuration applications, refer to the router products configuration publication.

fig_2.gif Caution Means reader be careful. In this situation, you might do something that could result in equipment damage or loss of data.

fig_3.gif Warning Means danger. You are in a situation that could cause bodily injury. Before you work on any equipment, be aware of the hazards involved with electrical circuitry and familiar with standard practices for preventing accidents.
