Verify the TCP/IP Configuration on a Windows 95 PC

To verify the TCP/IP configuration on a PC running Windows 95, perform the following tasks by using the Network Control Panel and selecting the TCP/IP configuration information.

In the IP Address section, check that the PC has the correct IP address.
In the DNS Configuration section, configure two DNS server addresses in the DNS Server Search Order box.
One address is the DNS server address issued by your network manager or service provider.
The second address is the subnet broadcast address. Your system administrator should supply this address to you. To determine the subnet broadcast address, use the clckhelp.exe application which is located in WINDOWS folder on the Cisco Connection Online CD. You can also see these examples.

Note When you actually configure the router later in this procedure, Windows 95 might dislay error messages indicating that it has found another computer on the network with the same IP address. Ignore these messages by clicking OK in the error message window.

After you have configured the router, set the default gateway to the router's IP address.

If you change any of these parameters from previous settings, you must restart your PC.
