Router ISDN Setup

To configure your router, you have to fill in the fields on this form. Most of the information required should have been supplied by your network manager or service provider.

Router Name and Password

You need to name your router and assign it a password. The router name must be the name that you were told to use. You can choose the password.

ISDN Interface (BRI0)

You need to know the name of the router that you will be dialing and the password for CHAP authentication on the dialup link. The CHAP password should have been supplied to you; it is different from the router password. You also need to know the type of ISDN switch that the phone company is using, and you might need to know the SPIDs that they have assigned to you. If they are not using SPIDs, you can leave those fields blank.

IP Addresses

The router uses an address of 10.0.0.1. You can change it.

Diagnostic Information

You can enable standard debugging information. Doing so has little or no impact on router performance, but can help diagnose ISDN and dial-on-demand problems. Debugging information is sent to the router console and is stored in an internal buffer.

Router Frame Relay Setup

To configure your router, fill in the following fields. You should have received most of this information from your network manager or service provider.

Router Name and Password

Name your router and give it a password. The router name must be the name that you were told to use. The password is your choice.

Diagnostic Information

Router Asynchronous Serial Setup

To configure your router fill in the fields below. Most of the information required should have been supplied to you by your network manager or service provider.

Router Name and Password

Name your router and give it a password. The router name must be the name that you were told to use. The password is your choice.

Asynchronous Serial Interface

You need to know the name of the router you will be dialing up, and the password used for CHAP authentication on the link. This CHAP password should have been supplied to you, and is different from the router password above.
Remote router name
Remote phone number
Remote CHAP password
Enter a password to be prompted when a user dials into this router.
Local line password
Select the speed of the modem connected to the router and enter the Modem initialization string.
