This section discusses the objectives, audience, organization, and conventions of the CiscoWorks User Guide. It also lists related Cisco publications.
The CiscoWorks User Guide provides detailed information to operate and administer the CiscoWorks software product. The manual also describes how to perform daily and administrative tasks such as running reports and adding users. Refer to the CiscoWorks Getting Started Guide for installation, configuration, and a minitutorial chapter for the CiscoWorks 1.0 Software Release.
The CiscoWorks 1.0 applications run within the SunNet Manager application. This manual does not describe SunNet Manager features, but covers CiscoWorks applications only. This manual assumes that you are knowledgeable about SunNet Manager basics.
The CiscoWorks User Guide is directed at the Cisco Systems customer who is responsible for planning, managing, and analyzing an internetwork. This includes network managers, operators, and system administrators.
You should have prior networking experience, be familiar with the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), the Sun Operating System, SunNet Manager, and be aware of your own network topology. Familiarity with database programs is also beneficial.
