CiscoWorks Windows Installation Instructions
This instruction book provides information about installing and running CiscoWorks Windows on your network management station.
CiscoWorks Windows is a GUI-based device management software application that provides dynamic status, statistics, and comprehensive configuration information for Cisco Systems internetworking products.
CiscoWorks Windows allows you to display a graphical representation of each network device, display configuration and performance information, perform minor troubleshooting tasks, and control and configure specific devices.

This section provides CiscoWorks Windows software and hardware requirements.
You must install either Microsoft (MS) Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.51 to run CiscoWorks Windows.
CiscoWorks Windows uses the native WINSOCK stacks supplied with these operating systems.
You can install CiscoWorks Windows in one of three ways:
The following components are the minimum hardware requirements for running CiscoWorks Windows:
Before you install CiscoWorks Windows to run with CastleRock SNMPc, you must install CastleRock SNMPc on your system, as follows:

The SNMPc installation is complete, and the SNMPc program group appears in your Program Manager window.

Loading Management Information Bases (MIBs)
This section describes how to load MIB files to CiscoView.
If you are using HP OpenView, you need to load MIBs into the HP OpenView Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) MIB database after installation. This allows the CiscoView and Health Monitor applications to query devices for information.
To load the MIBs, run the batch file ovmibs.bat. This file is located in the subdirectory MIBS under the directory in which HP OpenView is installed.
You must recompile SNMPc MIBs after installing CiscoWorks Windows. To recompile the MIB database after installation, perform one of the following procedures:

When CiscoWorks Windows is installed, the following icons appear in your Program Manager window:

Adding New Cisco Devices and Applets
New device support will be added to CiscoView incrementally in an ongoing effort to meet your network management needs.
To add incremental device and applet support to CiscoView, access Cisco Connection Online (CCO). CCO, formerly Cisco Information Online (CIO), is the Cisco Systems online support channel.
Instructions on how to download additional devices for CiscoView are in the Software Image Library's Enterprise Network Management section on CCO or on the anonymous ftp server. For specific instructions on accessing CCO, refer to the quick reference card attached to the CiscoWorks Windows registration card.
Performing Incremental Device Installations
To install devices after CiscoWorks Windows is installed on your system:
To remove (uninstall) a device after it has been installed:
Uninstalling CiscoWorks Windows
To remove (uninstall) CiscoWorks Windows, simply double-click on the Uninstall CiscoWorks icon. This removes the program from your system.
If you use Windows 95, you can also remove CiscoWorks Windows with the Remove Program command. This deletes CiscoWorks Windows from the Windows 95 registry.
