Document Objectives
This manual describes the traps (error and event messages) generated by the LS2020 switch and explains how they are generated. It provides procedures for setting trap levels, viewing traps, logging traps, and reading and customizing trap logs. The manual also describes all operational, informational, and SNMP traps; each description includes the name of the trap, the trap text, the cause of the trap, and possible user actions.
Audience
The LightStream 2020 Traps Reference Manual is intended for anyone who operates or manages a LightStream 2020 network.
Users of the LightStream 2020 document set are expected to have a general understanding of basic data communications concepts, some knowledge of UNIX, and a familiarity with the interfaces used by the devices connected to their LightStream 2020 network.
It is recommended that you have a working knowledge of TCP/IP networks and protocols. For more information about TCP/IP networks, refer to Internetworking with TCP/IP, Volume 1, Principles, Protocols, and Architecture, by Douglas E. Comer (Prentice-Hall Inc., 1991, ISBN 0-13-468505-9).
Document Organization
This manual is organized as follows:
- Chapter 1, "About LightStream 2020 Traps," presents an overview of LS2020 traps.
- Chapter 2, "Managing LightStream 2020 Traps," explains how to change the way traps are reported and where they are displayed.
- Chapter 3, "SNMP Traps," describes the SNMP traps generated by the LS2020 switch.
- Chapter 4, "Operational Traps," describes the operational traps generated by the LS2020 switch.
- Chapter 5, "Informational Traps," describes the informational traps generated by the LS2020 switch.
Document Conventions
