Deinstalling the EISA HP Adapter Software

This appendix describes procedures you should follow to remove the workgroup EISA HP adapter software from your system.

This appendix describes procedures you should follow to remove the workgroup EISA HP adapter software from your system.

These software deinstallation instructions differ depending on the version of HP-UX operating system installed in your workstation. These instructions are separated into the following sections:

Use the deinstallation instructions appropriate for your HP workstation operating system configuration.


HP-UX 9.x and Earlier Deinstallation Using the deinstall Utility

The following instructions are used to deinstall the workgroup EISA HP adapter software in an HP workstation with HP-UX Version 9.x and earlier operating system installed.

Run the FDDI deinstall script as follows:

Step 1 Log in as superuser.

Step 2 Change to the /usr/local/cfddi directory.

Step 3 Enter the following command:

./deinstall.fddi


Step 4 Follow the instructions to deinstall the FDDI software.


deinstall Script Example

The following is an example of the ./deinstall script:


You have invoked the ./deinstall.fddi script, which is used to deinstall

software for the FDDI EISA HP Adapters.



The following files will be restored to the state they were in before

the FDDI software was installed.

1) /etc/conf/dfile

2) /etc/master

3) /hp-ux (rebuild hp-ux kernel)

4) /etc/netnmrc

5) /etc/netlinkrc from /etc/netlinkrc.sv

6) eisa configuration



Do you wish to restore these files now (y/n) [y] ? y

restoring /etc/conf/dfile



restoring /etc/master



removing cfddi driver from /etc/conf/libusrdrv.a

removing empty /etc/conf/libusrdrv.a

configuring kernel................... done



Rebuilding kernel...



Compiling conf.c ...

The configuration was changed and has already been saved to NVM. 



A description of the configuration was saved in /etc/eisa/config.log. 



After exiting eisa_config, follow these steps: 



(1) Make any necessary device files. Refer to the section titled 

"Making Device Files" in "Adding an EISA Board: Alternate 

Method" in chapter 2 of the "E/ISA Configuration Guide for 

HP-UX, HP 9000 Series 700". If you have moved a board you 

may also need to make new device files. Refer to the section 

titled "Moving an E/ISA Board" in chapter 3 of "E/ISA 

Configuration Guide for HP-UX, HP 9000 Series 700". 

(2) Ensure that all appropriate software I/O drivers are present 

in the kernel. Refer to "Adding Drivers to the HP-UX Kernel" 

in "Adding an EISA Board: Alternate Method" in chapter 2 

of the "E/ISA Configuration Guide for HP-UX, HP 9000 Series 700 

Computers". 

(3) Shut down the system with the "/etc/shutdown -h" command. 

(4) Once the system is shut down, turn the power off. Then set any 

physical switches and jumpers correctly. The switches and jumpers 

that have changed since you invoked eisa_config are listed below. 

Refer to the section titled "Setting Switches and Jumpers" in 

chapter 3 of the "E/ISA Configuration Guide for HP-UX, HP 9000 

Series 700 Computers". 

Also refer to /etc/eisa/config.log for a summary 

of the new configuration, including required settings. 

(5) Physically add, move, or remove boards as needed. 

(6) Turn the power on and boot the system. 



No switches or jumpers have changed. 

Exiting eisa_config.

HP UX 10.0 Deinstallation Using SAM

The following instructions are used to deinstall the workgroup EISA HP adapter software in an HP workstation with HP UX Version 10.0 operating system installed:


Deinstalling the Driver Using SAM

Use the following procedure to deinstall the adapter driver from your system.

Step 1 Log in to your system as root.

Step 2 From the command line prompt in an hpterm window, enter sam. The System Administration Manager window appears.

Step 3 In the System Administration Manager window, double-click on the Kernel Configuration icon. The kernel Configuration window appears.

Step 4 In the kernel configuration window, click on the Drivers icon. The list of drivers installed appears.

Step 5 From the list of drivers, select cfddi.

Step 6 From the menu bar at the top of the Kernel Configuration window, select Action to display the drop-down menu.

Step 7 From the Action drop-down menu, select Remove Driver from Kernel. A confirmation window appears.

Step 8 In the Confirmation window click on the Yes button. The Networking and Communications window will reappear.

Step 9 In the Kernel Configuration window, the list of drivers reappears without the cfddi driver.

Step 10 In the Kernel Configuration window, select File and Exit SAM to close the System Administration Manager window.


This concludes the deinstallation of the adapter driver from your system. Removing the EISA HP Adapter Fileset

Perform the following steps to complete the EISA HP adapter software deinstallation:

Step 1 Enter the following command to remove the EISA HP adapter fileset:

rmfn -l CFDDI


Step 2 Enter the following command to shut down the system:

shutdown -h -y 0


Step 3 Power off the system and remove the EISA HP adapter.
