Downloading New Cisco Devices and Applications

To add new device and application support to the CiscoWorks Windows CiscoView 3.1 application, access the Cisco Systems online support channel, Cisco Connection Online (CCO), formerly Cisco Information Online (CIO).

CiscoWorks Windows includes CiscoView as part of its suite of applications. You must be running CiscoWorks Windows 2.0 or later in order to do incremental installations. Open CiscoView and select Help>About CiscoView to check the version number.

To access the CiscoView device package files, refer to the section that applies to your type of login. Then refer to the section "Performing Incremental Device Installations."

CCO Registered User

To register on CCO, enter the following URL into your WWW browser:

http://www.cisco.com

If you are already registered, enter the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/Library_root.shtml

Enter your CCO username and password. Continue to the section "Installing from CCO."

CCO Guest User

If you are not registered on CCO or do not have a SmartNet contract, you will need a special access code. Phone the Technical Support team for CiscoView at 800 553-2447, 408 526-7209, or email tac@cisco.com; then enter:

http://www.cisco.com/public/library/spc_req.shtml

Enter the special access code and click Execute. Continue to the section "Installing from CCO."

FTP User

If you have a SmartNet contract, enter the following URL into your WWW browser:

ftp://[userid]@www.cisco.com/cisco/netmgmt/ciscoview/3.1.1/packages

If you are not registered on CCO or don't have a SmartNet contract, you will need a special access code. Phone the Technical Support team for CiscoView at 800 553-2447, 408 526-7209, or email tac@cisco.com; then enter:

ftp://[special_access_code]@www.cisco.com/coded/

For FTP server access, enter your email address as the password. For example, myname@net.com.

Continue to the section "Installing from CCO."

Performing Incremental Device Installations

To install additional device support either install from the CiscoWorks Windows CD-ROM or download additional device files, or packages, from CCO.

Installing from the CiscoWorks Windows CD-ROM

To incrementally install device support from a CD-ROM:

Step 1 Double-click on the Install Device icon.

To locate the icon in Windows 95, select the Taskbar Start menu and point to the Programs folder CiscoWorks Windows. In Windows NT, locate the program folder for CiscoWorks Windows.


Step 2 Select the device packages you want to load; then click OK.

Step 3 The Setup complete dialog box appears. Select your option; then click Finish.

Installing from CCO

Device support files for CiscoView are in the Software Image Library Enterprise Network Management section on CCO and on the Cisco FTP server.


Note Additional information can be viewed that contains important information including devices supported in the file, platforms supported, and Cisco IOS software versions supported on CiscoView. If the package does not meet your needs, cancel the download and refer back to CCO for the correct file.

Before you download the files from the Software Image Library, do the following:

Step 1 Create a cv_pkgs folder in the CiscoWorks Windows folder on your PC. This is a temporary folder.

Step 2 Download the device package tar file from CCO into the cv_pkgs directory.

Step 3 Use WinZip to unbundle or extract the files. There will be a readme and a package file.

Step 4 Double-click the Device Install icon to install the devices onto CiscoWorks Windows.

Step 5 Select the device packages you want to load from the cv_pkgs directory; then click OK.
