Background: Born amidst the flames of an apartment fire, mother dead in the fire. Left side scarred by the fire. Adopted by life-partners Mary Kelly (Jeweler) and Lisa Barnes (Chef). Mary is a lapsed Catholic, Lisa a practicing pagan, preferring Celtic deities.
Summoned to a land ruled by fire. The madness of the current queen has allowed the rise of the priesthood of the corrupted flame (though some thought the priesthood was behind the madness) Summoning was part of a build up of demon forces for the corruped flame. An imprecise specification of the creature to be summoned in one circle resulted in a match to my background. Though I was forced into shell provided, instead of appearing in my human form. The shock of the summoning, and the bindings intended to contain the summoned entity left my personality suspended for some time.
The princess/royal heir and her champion began a quest to retrieve certain items of power needed to restore purity of rule to the royal line, and cleanse corruption from the flame.
Set to help guard location which contained crown of flames, awareness was rekindled when princess retrieved the crown.
With the crown gone, priesthood (and princess) began search for talon of fire. Priesthood took demon escorts as guards, terrorists and examples of power - gaining protection, retribution and support. Still mostly bound by controls set on demonic shell, managed to whittle down the escort by being an ornery cuss, quick to take offense with other demons brought along. Talon tracked down to a statue in abandoned noble estate. "Stumbled" in way of remaining demon escort while princess and champion fought their way out of estate. Said stumble required me to attack offending demons, providing a hole in trap through which heroes could escape. As she leaves, princess slashes me with the talon, mostly destroying the bindings of control.
Final artifact in known location - first/chief temple holds mantle of the phoenix. Battle ensues, with corrupt forces outnumber pure. Princess dons mantle and ... it does nothing. I rampage my way through the battlefield, ending up at the temple as the princess exits. She splits my demonic shell with the talon of fire, releasing smaller dragon form from within. I set her on fire initiate her transformation to phoenix. Carnage ensues, the flame is cleansed, and I am granted passage through the fire to home, where I can resume my human form. A rather improved human form - scarring has been transformed to golden flame tattoos, eyes are now the color of rubies.
Princess's actions somewhat guided by a prophecy which indicates a child from the void shall aid the flame, and the flame shall aid the child. He may choose to destroy or transform, and by his choice the flame shall burn. |
