Amusements/Activities
The list of activities is endless, but here are some ideas :
- Minature Golf - There are numerous places to play minature
golf, but most are located off 17 business. Just travel north or
south on this road until you see one that looks interesting.
- Movie Theatres - The largest theatre is the Carmike Cinema located at
Broadway at the Beach. The phone number is 445-1616.
- Water Parks - There are several of these in the area.
The closest is called Myrtle Waves located off the 17 bypass just
south of Broadway at the Beach. However, we like Wild Water & Wheels
located in Surfside. It has a waterpark, but also includes miniature golf,
go carts and bumper boats.
- Ripley's Aquarium - There is a new aquarium located in Broadway
at the Beach. It cost about $15 for adults but it is well worth
it.
- Ripley's Believe It or Not - We've never been in the local
museum, but it may be worth your time. It is located in downtown
Myrtle Beach.
- Broadway at the Beach - various activities for all ages and lots of places to eat. A must do while here.
- IMAX Theatre - This is located in Broadway at the Beach.
They have about 4 or 5 different shows to choose from. We've never
seen an IMAX show, but have heard that they are pretty good.
- Alligator Adventure - This is located in North Myrtle. It
is a good place to visit but probably a little on the steep side. I can't
remember the price, but I think it's about $11 for adults. Seeing them
feed the alligators is the best event. Check the feeding schedule
before going in.
- Family Kingdom Amusement & Water Park - This is a small amusement park located in
the south end of Myrtle Beach. It has a lot of rides for younger kids kids (3 to 7).
Entrance to the park is free. Ride tickets are paid per ride or there is an all day pass.
It also has a small water park geared mostly for younger kids.
- Tennis Courts/Childrens's Playground - There are two tennis
courts and a children's playground located within the Arrowhead
complex. To get there, simply make a right at the first stop sign when
exiting Riverwalk onto Arrowhead Blvd. The tennis courts are located
less than half a mile down the road on the left-hand side.
- Sky Wheel & Bungy Jump - In downtown Myrtle (around 10 ave North) is a large Ferris wheel on the Ocean which costs $10 per person. There is a boardwalk in this area aw well with a couple of places to eat and drink.
- Waccatee Zoo - This is a small but nice zoo. It's shaded very well
and is good place to take the kids. The price is very reasonable. You can buy food
at the zoo to feed the animals. It is worth it.
