Course Overview

Description: The objective of this course is to study and investigate data collection and analysis methods for network and application-level data. The course will discuss techniques to improve performance using measurements, and methods used in reverse engineering for networked applications.
Prerequisites: Having a solid computer networking knowledge and programming skills is strongly recommended as we will build on top of the basic networking concepts.

Tools and Technologies

  • Wireshark
  • Dummynet, TC, iperf
  • OpenStack, AWS, OpenDaylight, etc.

Grading

I will not take attendance, however, participation to the discussions in the class may affect your grade.
  • Reading/presentation assignment I - 25%
  • Reading/presentation assignment II - 25%
  • Project I - 20%
  • Project II - 30%
